Sligo is a beautiful county with a long Atlantic coastline made up of unspoilt countryside, mountains, and lakes. It is renowned for its wild beauty and for the opportunities it offers to enthusiasts of sports of every kind such as sailing, swimming, golf, surfing, horse riding, walking, cycling and many others. The city is easily accessible from all parts of Ireland, just 2 hours drive from Galway or Belfast and 2.5 hours from Dublin. A regular rail service and an airport 5 miles from the centre of town makes travel especially convenient between Dublin and Sligo.
With a museum, an art gallery, the Yeats memorial building (the mother of W.B. Yeats was born here and he spent most of his childhood here), the recently upgraded Hawkswell theatre, numerous hotels, a conference centre, and the brand new Johnston Court, Sligo is home to many attractions.
